That Obligatory ‘First Post’

All new blogs need that first post. You know the post I’m talking about. That first post that introduces the blog, why it’s being created, the intention of its work going forward, what you can expect. The one that starts as an ‘about’ page but then all of a sudden it’s 5 paragraphs long.

Yep. That’s this post. I tried to get away with not writing it, but I . So here it is—that obligatory first post.

Hi, I’m Julie. Julie Laufer Official is my official take on (get it?), well, pretty much whatever I want, but with a focus on health and wellness.

My health and wellness journey started about two ago years and has had its ups and downs. I’ve gone through a lot of exploration and it has taken me a long time to figure out what works (and what ‘works’ changes often). In the past 2 years, I have been at both my heaviest and lightest weights. I have been at my most active and my least active.

I am now working towards balance in my life. Some days are easier than others. I went from someone who hates working out to someone who works out 6 days a week. Sometimes. Sometimes I just work out 2 or 3 times. #balance.

I have wanted to start my own blog centered around a healthy lifestyle for awhile but never felt like I was healthy or fit enough. Thinking this way is both flawed and unfair. Our lives aren’t stagnant, and neither are our health needs. I don’t feel like I need to focus on perfection, but rather how I am continuously figuring it all out.

So, I want to share my journey—the good days and the bad days. The grain-free meals and those times that I eat all of the gluten.

Sometimes I eat grain-free/dairy free meals that look like this. Sometimes, I eat pizza. #balance.

My hope is that in reading this, you are inspired to find balance in your own life—whatever balance means to you . There is too much pressure to live perfect lives and have perfect diets and routines. That isn’t realistic, and that isn’t what I strive for anymore.

    • So happy you’re here, Brittany. I know that struggle well, and I’d be lying if I said I was 100% past it. Some days/weeks are definitely more difficult than others, and I’ve ‘started over’ so many times.
