Hi, I’m Julie. I’m a Bay Area-based lifestyle blogger. I grew up in New York City, and lived in Baltimore, MD for 7 years.

I have been on a health journey for about 2 years, and have stumbled many times along the way. I’ve never enjoyed working out and paid no attention to how what I was eating affected my mind, body, and energy.

Slowly but surely, I’ve found exercises that I like (and some that I love) and a way of eating that works for me. I started posting these aspects of my lifestyle on my Instagram and I found that people wanted to know more. While Instagram is a wonderful platform for quick interactions, I wanted to have a space where I was able to elaborate on things I posted about and give my official stamp of approval on.

I feel my best when I’m following something close to a paleo diet (wheat/dairy/sugar free) but try not to stress if I fall outside of it. For that reason, I don’t call myself “paleo”, because after following the diet strictly for quite some time, I’ve found I also like the freedom to include rice and quinoa and other sprouted grains.  I also love pizza and will totally toss this ‘feel my best’ diet aside when I want to. It’s all about balance and moderation. I’m also always on the look out for good alternative products (non-dairy cheeses/ice creams/grain free tortillas/whatever paleo goodies I can get my hands on). I’m always looking for recommendations.

I’m also very in-tune with my gut. Yes, both my actual gut and the figurative gut-feelings, but in this situation I’m talking more about my actual gut. I believe a gut-friendly diet will keep us healthy and energized, and I’m always trying to make my gut happy.

I’m always open to trying a new workout. Some favorites include yoga, spin class (SoulCycle preferred), Barre, and body-weight resistance workouts (I’ve had a love/hate relationship Kayla Itsines’ BBG program for two years). I tolerate running.

I’m not a registered dietician nor do I work in the field of nutrition and don’t claim to be an expert. This blog has more of a message along the lines of ‘hey this is what works for me! find what works for you!’ and less of ‘this works for me so it’ll work for everyone!’.

I currently live in San Jose, CA with my boyfriend and our two cats, Maude and Mathilda. I work in tech.
